Urological Surgeons of Illinois, LTD.

Physicians

Our medical team includes the following physicians:

As urologists, our physicians are highly trained to treat disorders of the male and female urinary tract (bladder, ureter, kidney, and urethra) and the male reproductive system. Urology is classified as a surgical subspecialty, but because a variety of clinical problems are encountered when treating urological conditions, knowledge of internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and other specialties is required.

Dr. Slutsky Joel N. Slutsky, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Borad-certified Urologist

Dr. Slutsky is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Slutsky feels one of the biggest medical challenges facing senior citizens today is urinary incontinence. He has been active in treating the various causes of the disease, utilizing either medical management, or the latest techniques in surgical and reconstructive repairs. "Women especially are suffering through the embarrassment of incontinence, primarily for lack of knowing where to seek help, and sometimes wondering if help exists at all," states Dr. Slutsky, who also serves as an Assistant Professor of Urology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where he has taught residents in incontinence surgery, and where he himself was trained. Residents from Rush University Medical Center Urololgy Program are under his direction for robotic and laparascopic surgery training.

Dr. Slutsky has been serving the Kankakee and surrounding communities since 1980, and was the first physician to offer the area electro-hydraul>ic shock-wave therapy for kidney stones, thereby reducing the need for surgery. Dr. Slutsky also introduced laser prostate surgery, laparoscopy for prostate cancer and a host of new and innovative prostate treatments.

In addition to receiving his pediatric urology training at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Slutsky is also Member of the American Urological Association, and a published author of scientific articles in publications such as The Journal of Urology.

Dr. Frye E. Kent Frye, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Borad-certified Urologist

Dr. Frye is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

In practice since 1991, Dr. E. Kent Frye's specialty training in urology at the University of Kansas provided him with special training in the treatment of kidney stones, erectile dysfunction, laparoscopic surgery of the kidney, and robotic surgery for the prostate, an advanced procedure only offered in centers of urologic excellence.

Dr. Frye's treatment philosophy includes a nerve sparing prostate cancer surgery technique, (the type of surgery pioneered at John Hopkins Medical Center) which provides better post-surgery resul>ts with regard to continence and maintaining an erection. He also strongly adheres to medical treatment for impotence, in most cases without surgery for his patients, and in other cases, without even employing the use of a needle. Surgical implants are also a consideration for patients who do not respond to more conservative treatment methods.

When treating kidney stones, Dr. Frye prefers an outpatient procedure, which can be done in the outpatient endoscopy suite, by employing a small scope that utilizes state-of-the-art technology.

Luke S. Cho, M.D. Luke S. Cho, M.D.

Dr. Cho is certified by the American Board of Urology.

Dr. Cho studied medicine at the University of Illinois, in Chicago, and completed his residency in Urology at Yale University's New Haven Hospital. Dr. Cho specializes in prostate cancer treatments including robotic surgery, laparoscopic, and laser surgery. Dr. Cho also has specialty interest in male infertility.
